REGISTRATION FOR 2017/18 SEASON OPEN

Please read this document carefully. By registering with Schomberg Minor Hockey, you are accepting the terms and conditions of registration set out below.  Click HERE to register now!

Players will be accepted on all teams on the basis of who registers and pays first. Team and Player numbers are often limited, to ensure quality and fair play. In rare circumstances and subject to Player numbers and available Teams, we may not be able to offer spots on Teams to all registrants. 

Money will be refunded if this happens. Where Player numbers approach applicable Team caps, a waiting list will be created until such time as a sufficient number of Players justify adding a further Team.

Register Early to Guarantee Your Spot for the 2017-18 Hockey Season!

On-Line Registration Process Opens on MAY 15TH, 2017. Registration is an On-Line payment process, to guarantee your spot & get the Early Bird Registration Fee; payment must be completed by June 30th, 2017. As of July 1st, 2017 the Registration Fee increases an additional $ 200.00.

We will be having a limited number of “in person” registration dates to accommodate all players and parents, who have questions. These will be posted on the website as soon as they are available. For your convenience, you will be able to pay with VISA or MasterCard On-Line.

When you have completed your registration, you will receive an e-mail confirmation and receipt.  This is your Tax Receipt for the Hockey Season.

 Option 2: In-Person Inquires on the On-Line Registration:

Registration Inquires Sessions will take place on the following dates only

·        1st Week of May - will be posted in local paper and schombergminorhockey.com

·        Weekend of Schomberg Fair - will be posted on website

·        1st week of June - will be posted at the Trisan Centre and schombergminorhockey.com

·        After May 15th - Registration will be accepted on a first come first served basis

Don’t Miss the Early Bird Discounts!

Significant discounts are available for Players who register prior to June 30th, 2017. The Association depends upon preliminary registration numbers in order to make decisions about which teams to ice for next season – so Please Register Early. Registration received On-Line prior to and including June 30th, 2017 will be eligible to receive a $200.00 Early Bird Discount (IP Program excluded).

Permission to Skate Forms:  Are available to interested Players once they have completed Initial Registration with their Home Center.  Permission to Skate Forms will be available as of April 8th. Requests should be forwarded to Scott Edwards, who can be contacted at: [email protected].
 

Rep Team Tryouts:

In order to be eligible for Rep Tryouts, Players must first Register for Rep. Tryouts On-Line, and pay a $50.00 Rep Tryout Fee. Players who have failed to do so will NOT be permitted on the ice for Tryouts.

Tryouts are currently scheduled for April 22th, 23th, 29th, and 30th at the Trisan Center. Schedules will be available in the near future and posted online. Tryout Rules have changed, and participation in the Spring Tryout process is required for players interested in playing Rep Hockey next season. Further Tryout consideration in the autumn will be limited and is at the discretion of the Coach. New Players moving into residence or players who have been unable to make the Spring Tryouts should contact the applicable Rep Coach directly to determine whether an invitation to an autumn skate will be considered.

New Players:

·       If you have played hockey in another centre in the past and have now moved to Schomberg, contact the hockey office for the proper residential transfer forms.  You won't be able to register until this has been done.

 

·       If you are a new player in the SMHA, you must notify the Registrar at [email protected]  or the Webmaster/IT Support at [email protected] before proceeding to register On-Line. 

Please download the following document to register for the 2017-2018 Season.  Don’t forget to provide a copy of the child’s Birth Certificate.

OMHA Required Parental Respect in Sport Training:

The OMHA now requires a parent or guardian from every family to complete the new Respect in Sport Training Module (On-Line) as a condition of play.

Fees for the 2017-2018 Hockey Season (Age by December 31st, 2017):

The Association has recently benchmarked its Fee Structure to ensure that membership Fees are competitive and in line with what other Associations are charging for comparable programs. Unlike many other Associations, SMHA does not charge additional “package” fees consisting of mandatory team budget contributions or clothing packages. Registration Fees are based on costs associated with the following:

·        Administrative Costs

·        Cost of Ice Purchases

·        Equipment

·        Insurance

·        League Fees (OMHA, SRLL, YSHM)

·        Player Development

·        Red and White Tournaments

·        Referee and Timekeeper Expenses

·        Special Events

·        Year End Banquet Awards & Team Pictures

Family Registration Discount:

Families registering three or more Players will receive a 50% Discount on the 3rd, 4th, or subsequent Players. The discounted fee is applicable to lowest Registration Fee Due on that Player. Fees will be recalculated if 1 player is subsequently cancelled. Not applicable to Juvenile.

Additional Fees:

Player Name Plates for Jerseys: $20.00. If a Player wishes to have their personal name on the back of their game jersey, Players are responsible for ordering these directly through SMHA Fundraising. Team Managers will be notified at the beginning of the season with respect to the applicable process and order deadline. A single Order will be placed in September. If Players miss this opportunity, no further Orders will be placed later in the season.  

          

Red & White Tournament Fundraising Fees:

Local League Teams will be required to participate in and host a Hometown Red & White Tournament during the season. These tournaments are an important part of Association fundraising and help keep overall registration fees at a reasonable level. Team families will be expected to volunteer to help run these tournaments, in a fundraising or kitchen help capacity.

 

Instead of a tournament registration fee, Hometown Schomberg Teams will require all Players to donate a fundraising fee (see below) to help purchase prizes and raffle items during the Tournaments. The applicable tournament fees are set out below:

NSF Cheques:        $50.00 Service Charge

 Administration Fee will be charged on all returned cheques or stop payments.

Players will be de-registered until all outstanding amounts have been paid in full. In addition, all ice privileges will be suspended until arrangements are made to replace outstanding fees.

Outstanding fees must be replaced in CASH/CERTIFIED CHEQUE OR MONEY ORDER for the returned cheque plus the NSF charge and the balance owing on any other cheque etc. issued to SMHA before the player is allowed on the ice.

Requests for Refunds:       A $50.00 Administration Fee will be applied to all refund requests to cover the costs of administration, and associated insurance costs. The Administration Fee will be waived in those situations where the Association, due to insufficient Player numbers, is unable to provide a Player with a Team to play on.

All refunds MUST be made in writing on the Refund for Request Form (available under Forms) and addressed to the Registrar. The refund will be based on the date of receipt of the completed form as per SMHA Policy. Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing from the time of notification. Amounts paid by cheque will be delayed until cheque clears the SMHA bank account.

Administration Fee, Late Fee, Tryout Fees & Rep. Fees will Not be Refunded.

The balance of Registration Fees will be refunded as follows: 

·       From April to August 31st - $50.00 Administration Fee only; remainder of fees will be refunded.

·       From September 1st – October 15th – 75% of fee will be refunded.

·       From October 16th - November 15th - 50% of fee will be refunded.

·       After November 16th - 0% of fee will be refunded.

·       If a Family Registration Discount was taken – the fee is added back to the lowest of the registrant dues and recalculated, then applied to the player in question.

·       A refund can only be obtained upon the return of sweaters or any other equipment belonging to the SMHA in the same condition that it was issued.

·       Any player who registers with SMHA but signs a Junior Playing Card will be entitled to a full refund as long as they did not participate in a SMHA Tryout, practice or game. If they participate in an SMHA activity the refund will be granted as per policy

·       Any player requesting a refund from SMHA due to Medical reasons or relocation must submit a completed Request for Refund Form. This must then be approved by the SMHA Board of Directors.

Tax Receipts:

An Income Tax Receipt for Registration Fees is your On-Line e-mail confirmation upon registration. Print Off Receipt and/or Keep that e-mail Safe.

Volunteers & Coaches Required:

Our Association is completely driven by volunteers. As the Association continues to grow; the need for volunteers continues to grow as well. Our young Players need your help, so please volunteer to help move this Association forward. We all want the kids to play hockey in a supportive and fun environment and that can only occur if we all help to make it happen. Unlike many organizations, we do not insist on a payment in lieu of volunteering, but as we grow, the demand for volunteers keeps increasing. Come out and assist in any way possible.
